A quick hello

This isn't about making every child's artwork look the same.

The Kristin Cafferty Creativity Academy is a monthly online creative membership for kids ages 6–12 and their grown-ups. Children build creativity, confidence, problem-solving skills, real artistic skills, and their own creative voice through monthly art experiences designed by a teacher with 30 years in the art room.

This isn't simply another step-by-step art class. Children aren't here to copy Kristin's example or make 20 versions of the same project. They're encouraged to make choices, try ideas, solve problems, change their minds, take creative risks β€” and discover their own artistic voice.

Who is KCCA for?

For kids with ideas. All kinds of ideas.

Children approximately ages 6–12

KCCA is for every kind of creative kid β€” including the ones who don’t think they’re creative yet.

It’s for children who love to draw and paint, kids who love to build and invent, kids with enormous imaginations, and kids who simply need more opportunities to wonder, experiment, make choices and try something new.

Through art, creative challenges and open-ended exploration, KCCA helps children grow as creative thinkers, problem solvers and confident decision-makers β€” while building real artistic skills along the way.

And in a world filled with screens, scrolling and ready-made entertainment, KCCA gives kids something different:

a reason to put the screen down and MAKE something.

🎨 Loves making thingsπŸ’‘ Has BIG ideas🌱 Is still discovering their creativity🧠 Loves to imagine & problem-solve✨ Needs something beyond another screenπŸ™Œ Wants the freedom to create their own way

No experience. No β€œartistic talent” required. Just curiosity.

The heart of KCCA

This isn't about perfect art.

We aren't trying to create 500 identical paintings. We're creating 500 kids who know how to have an idea, try it, change it, solve a problem, and say, β€œI made this decision because…”

The artwork is the vehicle. Creative thinking is the destination.

Kristin Cafferty Creativity Academy is not simply teaching children how to make art. It is helping them become confident, curious, resilient creative thinkers who carry those skills into every area of life.

Why I Created KCCA

Meet Kristin Cafferty

After more than 30 years of teaching art to children, I learned something important:

The best art experiences don't just teach kids how to make art. They teach kids how to think.

That's why I created Kristin Cafferty Creativity Academy.

KCCA is a monthly online creative membership for kids ages 6–12, designed to build creativity, confidence, curiosity, and problem-solving through meaningful art experiences.

But this isn't simply another online art class.

Children aren't here to copy my example or make 20 versions of the same project. They're encouraged to make choices, try ideas, solve problems, change their minds, take creative risks, and discover their own artistic voice.

Β Drawing on everything I learned during my career as an award-winning elementary and middle school art teacher, I've designed KCCA around something I believe deeply:

Creativity is a skill β€” and children need opportunities to practice it.

Because the goal isn't to create kids who are really good at following art directions.

The goal is to help raise creative thinkers through art.

For parents, too

You don't need to know anything about art to raise a creative kid.

Every month, yourΒ Parent Connection LetterΒ explains what your child is really practicing, gives you conversation starters and encouraging language, and shows you how to support creativity without taking over β€” plus a monthly teaching insight from Kristin's classroom.
The Academy supports parents as much as it supports children.
πŸ› οΈ Teach the how. Let them decide the what.
βœ”Technical help?Β (β€œHow do I mix purple?”) β€” help them.
βœ”Artistic decision?Β (β€œWhat color should I use?”) β€” hand it back
βœ” Be an interested observer and creative cheerleader β€” not an assistant art director.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
"We feel so fortunate that our daughter has had the opportunity to learn from Kristin. She has a wonderful way of making every child feel comfortable, capable, and excited to create. It's clear that Kristin makes the art experience feel special, fun, and meaningfulβ€”not just another activity on the schedule. She comes extremely prepared with all materials and provides an excellent atmosphere for art, no matter what venue we're in. What stood out most was the way she truly took the time to know and connect with our child, always with a smile. Her warmth, kindness, and inspiring energy made Vanessa/our child feel seen, understood, and encouraged. She was attentive to my child's personality and interests, and she knew just how to support her in a way that helped her feel proud and excited to display and share her artwork. Through her guidance, our child developed greater confidence and independence, along with a stronger sense of creativity and a willingness to try new things. We especially appreciate how she celebrates each child’s unique work and makes art feel enjoyable rather than intimidating. Our child was always proud to show us what she created, many creations of which are now framed and on display at our home. She develops exceptional projects that are engaging for children while producing beautiful, meaningful artwork that families will treasure and we are so grateful for the positive experiences. The Young Artist Workshop was an exceptional experience - WOW - as it also gave the kids a chance to 'show off' their work with an 'opening event' which gave an opportunity for parents and other people in the community to enjoy and appreciate the artworks in a prime location in our local library. We highly recommend Kristin to any family looking for a talented, caring, inspiring and smiling art teacher. "

"Our kids (6 and 8) have been taking classes with Kristin for about 8 months and not only do they love it, but we love it, too! While they have both grown as little artists since starting, we’ve seen the most impressive changes in our six year old. He has become so much more confident in expressing himself through art and is willing to try new things, take risks and most importantly… create! Kristin is so dedicated! She shows up authentically and energetically for the kids every single class. They are not only developing their artistic techniques, but are harnessing lifelong skills that will carry them as far as the eye can see. Thank you Miss Kristin! "

"My son has been lucky to attend many of Mrs. Cafferty's art classes as well as her Young Artist Series Workshops. He enjoyed the Young Artist series so much he wanted to do it twice! He is often a very shy, anxious child but he comes alive in her classes. Mrs. Cafferty made him feel welcomed and built a relationship with him that helped him feel excited to do art. He has gained confidence not only in his art abilities but also in himself. He never felt like he needed to compare his work to others or make it look just like Mrs. Cafferty's model. He felt confident in his own creativity and made every art piece his own. "

Quick answers

Frequently asked questions

What ages is KCCA for?
KCCA is designed for children approximately ages 6–12 who enjoy creating β€” or who need a little help believing that they can create. Projects are designed with enough artistic instruction to build real skills while leaving enough freedom for children to make independent choices.
Does my child need art experience?
No previous art experience is necessary. Every month includes real artistic instruction β€” drawing, painting, collage, sculpture, composition, color, line, texture and more β€” while leaving plenty of room for each child to make their own choices.
What supplies do we need?
At the beginning of each month, families receive a simple supply list. Most materials are common art supplies many families already have at home (sketchbook, pencils, markers, watercolors, paper, scissors, glue), with advance notice for any specialty items. Affordable recommendations and shopping links are provided whenever possible. We also encourage a "Beautiful Junk Box" of collected collage treasures β€” free creativity!
Are the classes live?
It's a mix. Each month includes two professionally filmed Studio Exploration Projects your family can watch anytime, plus two LIVE "In the Studio with Kristin" sessions β€” relaxed, community-centered gatherings with creativity games, mini demonstrations, questions and artwork celebrations. Live times vary to accommodate different schedules.
What if we miss a live session?
No problem! Every live session is recorded and added to the Academy as a replay, so your family can watch (and create along) whenever it fits your schedule.
How involved do parents need to be?
KCCA is designed to encourage increasing creative independence. Younger artists may need occasional help gathering materials or setting up, while older children may work almost entirely independently. Parents are encouraged to be interested observers and creative cheerleaders β€” not assistant art directors. And each month's Parent Connection Letter gives you conversation starters and encouraging language to use at home. You don't need to know anything about art to raise a creative kid.
